I love this “job” of mine. It has brought so many wonderful people into my life and shown me beauty in things I normally wouldn’t even take a second glance at.
In the last seven years (man, has it really been that long??), I have grown so much as a photographer and also as a person. I have found myself through my work and children. I have learned that I LOVE light!! The more the better! Which also reflects how I look at my life.
Positive. Bright. Strong.
I have learned to surround myself with people that are positive about life. Who look at things as half full.
I love my tribe.
The reason I am sharing these images, is because I am about to add to my list of session offerings.
All the photos that are on this blog post are film scans. And they are slowly becoming my favorite. Ok, they are my favorite now. So much so, that I don’t take photos of my kids with my digital camera anymore. Their childhood is being captured on film, just like mine was.
The first of the new additions are Hybrid sessions. These are film and digital photos. Last year I started taking my film camera to all of my sessions and capturing moments here and there. Sharing if they turned out, keeping them to myself if not.
You know what I realized? I rarely had images I didn’t want to share. I had figured out my sweet spot on film camera and was really enjoying the challenge of it all.
So, why keep that to myself?
Let me tell you something. Film is not cheap. I don’t just plug it in to my camera and call it good. I have to send it away to a lab and they scan it and I get digital scans back. I also then get a box of negatives at the end of the year, which for me is pretty cool to see!
I am now going to offer these hybrid sessions where people have the option for me to bring my film camera and get beautiful vintage looking images with their session.
I really hope that these are booked often!
Seniors will have the option of adding Hybrid to their session for $50.
Weddings will automatically have film photos included at no extra cost. I can’t not take photos at a wedding without taking some on film!
Each session will have at least one roll of film (36 exposures) taken at their session along with the digitals. I can’t guarantee that all exposures will turn out. I’m good, but not THAT good 😉
Hybrid sessions are not the only new session, I am now offering “Lifestyle” sessions. These will be at your home, lake place, park, cabin, farm, etc. I will just hang out with you and your family for a few hours and capture you in your element. Want to bake cookies with your grandchildren? I will capture that for you. Want to have documented memories of your yearly lake visit where the kids don’t bathe for days and play in the sand constantly? I want you to have those printed on your walls.
These sessions don’t have to be hybrid sessions, but can be.
We often think we are going to capture these moments, but guess what, moms? You aren’t in the photos! I want to capture you doing what you love, raising your children. Dads, I want to capture you swinging your little ones up in the air and catching them as they jump off the swings with big silly grins on their faces. They are only little once.
I will have pages dedicated to these sessions soon, until then, here are some details:
