Everything happens for a reason… {Southern Minnesota Photographer}

I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. Every small detail that happens in a day, something happens because of it. It does.

The topic of conversation lately has been the tearing down of the Masonic building in Tracy.  Due to the closeness of the building I rent, it has to be torn down as well. I knew this when I moved in.

What I didn’t know was how quickly the City of Tracy was going to move on the razing of the large historic building downtown. An eyesore it has become, but also something everyone is used to seeing. It will be a sad day when it actually hits the ground and is gone.

My building is tiny. One large room with two storage spaces and a bathroom. It was a perfect place for me to get my name out there and display my images. That little building served me well.

I was able to begin offering in person reveal sessions and see my clients’ reactions to their photos. To hear what they loved, and in turn what they didn’t. Hearing these things helps me in the long run if I were to work with the family again (which I always hope I do).

I was also able to display my images in formats that I love. Metals are my favorite item to offer as they last forever and are super cool. Yes, I just typed that and I totally mean it (said in a valley girl voice). Not all of my clients are familiar with metal prints and were surprised how unique they look and how the colors just POP.

Another thing I enjoyed showing my clients was the matte finish on prints. This is by far my favorite finish. It looks good across the board, but particularly awesome with the film prints. All of the photos of my children that are on film are printed on matte finish. It’s amazing.

Having this space has also gotten my name out to those that haven’t heard of me before. They happen to walk by on the way to a tournament at the VMC and see my photos in the window. I was even referred to as the “new photographer in town.” Um, I’ve been here for three years, but having that space and window display gives the public something to see, not just hear about.

I am so thankful for the six months this building has given me.

I know what you are thinking, “but Kyleen what are you going to do now?!”

Well, I am a firm believer in leaving things to God. Praying about things and trusting His plan. It can be a hard concept sometimes and I tend to stress a bit more than necessary, but with this, it was all I could do.

I was given a few options yesterday while at the Prairie Women’s Show in Tracy. I appreciated everyone’s concern for my business and my new location and the love was felt. It really was.

Today my stress has been relieved. I don’t want to say much yet, but there will be evidence soon enough of where I will be relocating and I couldn’t be more excited about it.

So, for now, just know that I am not going anywhere. I am here, I love Tracy, and will be serving this community for as long as it lets me.
